Luke Cody was born in 1980 in Melbourne, Australia. His interest in photography stems from a fascination with the duality of human nature and a love of documentary filmmaking.

In 2008 he visited four provinces in Afghanistan, photographing people living in communities supported by Afghanaid. Since then he’s covered conflicts in Ukraine, North Africa and has worked extensively in the Middle East.

In 2017, he covered the Iraqi army’s offensive to retake Mosul and then spent three months in Venezuela documenting the anti-government demonstrations in Caracas.

His work has been published in The Guardian, New Yorker Magazine, Vice, ABC News and has been featured in exhibitions sponsored by Apple and NATO.
